Our Trainers and Assessors are all of very experienced and qualified within their specialisms and have a wealth of knowledge and thrive on sharing that knowledge with Learners. They all keep up to date with regular Continued Professional Development (CPD)  and all  still work within their industries in an operational capacity. We only use the BEST and most current Trainers in the business.

Ian Mixter


Trainer, Assessor, IQA & Consutant – Specialisms: Crowd Safety Management, Health & Safety, CT and Security

Ian is an accomplished leader and innovator in crowd safety management who delivers success through inspirational leadership, intelligent problem solving and outstanding decision-making. His impressive track record in event and incident management across public and private sectors is complemented by genuine expertise in wider organisational management and development.

Ian’s experience as a former Police Acting Chief Inspector has been used in crowd safety, counter terrorism, search and major incidents. His knowledge and understanding of crowd safety, health and safety, security and counter terrorism is in demand with clients throughout the UK and internationally.

Ian has gained an extensive range of experience in safety and security, which has been developed through a career that has included roles such as Police Officer, crowd safety manager and safety officer.

Working at strategic, tactical and operational levels, within both public and private sectors, he has seen service at ‘crowded places’ such as New Year’s Eve Celebrations, Notting Hill Carnival, Wembley Stadium events and 2012 Olympics / Paralympics. Exposure to ‘major incidents’ has seen Ian involved in the aftermath of terrorist incidents and aircraft ‘accidents.’

Ian publishes regularly on topics such as persistent standing, using mobile technology to improve safety and security in football stadiums as well as CPD for safety officers. He brings vast experience into the classroom, as well as directly to organisations. In addition to delivering safe events, he also assesses and mentors safety officers working towards their Level 4 Diplomas in Spectator Safety Management.

Ian believes that a blend of theoretical knowledge, operational experience, creative vision and passion creates a world-class safety environment for forward-thinking businesses.

Kev Lawrence

BA Hons, PGCE, MSyl, Tech IOSH

Head of Center, Ops Director, Trainer, Assessor, IQA– Specialisms: Fire Safety, First Aid, SIA, Health & Safety and Spec Safety

Kev joined the Security Industry after a 12 year career in the British Army. His work has ranged from guarding tins of baked beans in a shop to looking after Prince Edward at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and everything in between!

After completing his BA Hons Degree Kev became a qualified teacher / Lecturer and  moved into a Training Manager and Assessor role and provided training services to some of the largest security companies in the UK (Securitas, Corps Security and Show & Event) and at some of the UK most prestigious events such as Queens Tennis tournament, London Stadium and Royal Ascot. Kev has set up a total of 3 Training centres (from scratch) for various organisations and in 2019 was honoured to be invited to Doha, Qatar to train the first cohorts from the Private Security Industry in Spectator Safety in preparation for World Cup 2022

Kev is now the Operations Director and Head of Training for Gardant Training Academy. As well as many other training and assessment qualifications such as a L5 Diploma in Security Management he is still passionate about CPD and is currently completing a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership, is a full Member of the Security Institute and sits on the new SIA Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group.

Duncan Kenny

BA Hons

Trainer, Assessor, IQA – Specialisms: SIA, First Aid, Spectator Safety, Conflict Management, Behavior & Surveillance

Duncan (Dunks) is an adaptable Trainer, Assessor and IQA with a BA (Hons) in Professional Communications. He has vast Experience gained from over 15 years of delivering training and operational experience in leadership, conservation and business management. He holds qualifications in teaching, with experience of tutorage in the UK and overseas.

Duncan is currently working UK wide as a Training consultant with a home in Brixham where he spends his weekends working on conservation projects in Torbay. He is still operational and provides his services as an experienced Ops Manager to many high-profile events.

When not deployed around the UK on operations Duncan delivers SIA Training, Spec safety, First Aid as well as being our lead trainer to deliver the specialist “Level 2 Behavioural Detection Analysis” qualification

Ian Dryland

(Stadium Safety Officer and Former Police Inspector)

Trainer, Assessor, IQASpecialisms: Spectator Safety Management, Counter Terrorism, Search

Ian was previously a Senior UK police officer with responsibility for spectator events. He has over 30 years policing experience including working as a sporting and major event commander. He also had responsibility for counter terrorist search and security in relation to high profile visits and events this included royalty, politicians, dignitaries, and military.


On finishing his policing role Ian continued working with the Police as an advisor and trainer in relation to spectator events and public order. This work included the FIFA club world cup, formula 1 and international cricket.


Eventually leaving the Police behind he continued with spectator event management qualifying as a crowd management safety officer and also becoming an assessor and trainer for stewards, security and management.


In 2019 Ian had the privilege of training security and stewarding staff in Qatar prior to the FIFA club world cup and AFC champions league. He has recently completed a virtual course training trainers for the security and stewarding industry in Qatar.

He delivers our higher level Spectator Safety courses and Counter Terrorism and Search Courses as well as being a wealth of information and knowledge as a consultant.
