Ollie Backhouse

Managing Director

Ollie created Gardant Security in January 2014 after managing the keyholding and response services for one of the UK’s largest Security companies.

Ollie has extensive experience over many years in static guarding, Key Holding and Door Supervision. He is skilled in selecting and training staff and oversees our BS 7858 screening programme.

Passionate about building and managing a sustainable business, Ollie is deeply involved in designing and running Gardant’s infrastructure and support functions. 

Kev Lawrence

Operations Director

Kev joined the security industry after a 12 year career in the British Army. His work has ranged from guarding tins of baked beans to looking after Prince Edward at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and everything in between.

After 10 years in the industry he moved into a trainer and assessor role and provided training services to some of the largest security companies (Securitas, Corps Security and Show & Event) and most prestigious events in the UK (Queens Tennis tournament, London Stadium and Royal Ascot)

Kev has bought this experience and expertise into Gardant Security with the remit to support Ollie in the growth of the company, setting up Gardant Training Academy, ensuring the operational side of the company runs smoothly  becoming an integral part of ensuring Gardant meets its full potential.

Sarah Blackford

Office Manager

Sarah joined the company in 2017 (after completing her DS course with us!) after working in various administration roles for a number of blue chip companies. Sarah is responsible for managing the administration of the company and controls our BS 7858 screening program. She was instrumental in ensuring that gardant Security received a very high scored during our annual Approved Contractor (ACS) audits.

Sean Watson

Head of Marketing and IT

Our very own Bill Gates

Sean is a Kingston University graduate in Marketing and Advertising, Sean Joined Gardant on a Kickstart programme after seeing Gardant were looking for a marketing assistant. After smashing the presentation interview, Sean was hired on the spot which has led to Gardant becoming paperless in 3 months and leading to a development of our own app. and rebuilding the website from scratch 

Sean has quickly become a vital part of the day to day running of the offices IT systems.

Harvey Andrews

Operations Supervisor

Harvey started his career in the security industry 3 years ago working in night clubs and bars in the local area, as a door supervisor.

Harvey then joined the Manned Guarding division at Gardant Security in July 2019 working on various sites and festivals in the summer period.

Harvey has come a long way within Gardant Security over the years and this has been recognised by Ollie – our Managing Director and Kev – our operations director. With his ongoing commitment to Gardant Security and the recognition of Directors he was promoted to Gardant Security Operations Supervisor in August 2021.

As an Operational Supervisor Harvey deals with operational issues that arise, allocating staff to sites and working closely alongside our Operations Manager, to produce weekly schedules for our employees over a range of sites, which is proved to be a demanding task on its own.

Craig Ashford

Area Manager

Craig moved to Devon with his young family just over 20 years ago. Craig primarily worked in the fitness and Leisure industry for 12 years picking up skills and qualifications in all areas including personal training,class instructor,swim teaching and lifeguard before moving up into management. Craig has also worked with the RNLI as a Beach Lifeguard on one of north Devon’s more Challenging beaches.

Craig gained his SIA door supervisor qualification in 2014 mainly working on local pub and venue doors alongside his full time job in Leisure. Soon after due to his physical fitness he was asked to work on some of the country’s biggest festivals either on response teams or part of the pit crew working on the main stage. In 2018 till present he worked as head doorman for a large venue in Minehead

In 2017 Craig gained his qualification in Close Protection and worked on some high risk RST tasks as well as close protection in the corporate and entertainment sector. Craig always maintains a professional outlook on any task he is assigned to and uses his experience in management and organisation to provide the best service possible. Craig has worked for Gardant on various jobs since first gaining his SIA qualification and recently has decided to work as part of the management team full time. Craig is looking forward to seeing the continuous growth of Gardant and help further develop the company mainly within the music and entertainment sector.

Kevin Childs

Lead Engineer

kevin started his electrical career in 2010 after passing his city and guilds level 3 17th edition and full part p and started working for a agricultural engineering company working as a electrical cab engineer building and wiring farm machinery such as crop sprayers,

He then went on to start his fire and security career as an apprentice with one of the largest fire and security companies in the region and he has worked for some of the biggest companies in the south west,

As well as this Kevin has worked throughout NHS sites in North Devon maintaining nurse call systems of all types.

Kevins knowledge in the alarm industry spans over 9 years and covers all disciplines in fire and security including cctv and access control, so you can be assured you’ll be in the most capable hands when choosing Fire & Security systems with Gardant
